Agency – Premier League club Manchester United lost in the first game of the season on Sunday. United have been defeated in the first Premier League game under coach Erik ten Haag.

United could not play openly at Old Trafford. Despite having more control of the ball, they could not beat Brighton. United had 63 percent of possession. A total of 17 shots were scored by United throughout the game.

5 of them were on target. Similarly, there were 15 shots on behalf of Brighton. 4 of which were on target. German midfielder Pascal Gross scored twice in Brighton’s win. But there was no goal from United. Alex McCallister’s own goal proved to be a consolation in a 2-1 draw.

Coach Ten Haag kept Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench for Sunday’s game. Ten Hague brought Ronaldo on in the second half. Despite Ronaldo’s entry, United’s attack improved slightly. But United could not score a goal.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Ten Haag said Ronaldo did not play full-time because it had been a long time since he returned to training. Ten Haag said that he could not play full 90 minutes due to low training.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has only been in the team training for 10 days now. I didn’t think it would be appropriate to play the full 90 minutes. That’s why I didn’t put him in the starting 11,” Ten Haag said.

After the match, Ten Hag also seemed to regret keeping Ronaldo on the bench. He admitted that there was some improvement in the game after Ronaldo was introduced to the field. Even though Eriksson and Ronaldo entered the field, United played an improved game compared to the first half, according to Ten Haag
