Agency – Premier League club Liverpool is set to join Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to land targets. According to some Spanish media, the Catalan club has entered the race to sign Barcelona’s Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Both United and Chelsea have been trying to sign De Jong for some time now. Now Liverpool will also be in this competition. El Nacional reports that Liverpool have also joined the race to sign De Jong.

Liverpool are ready to pay more than 71 million euros for De Jong, according to El Nacional. There will be an additional add-on to that amount. With Liverpool also joining the race to sign De Jong, Chelsea and United are now going to have a harder time.

Ever since the start of the 2022-23 season, players have been constantly injured in Liverpool. There are more than half a dozen injured players in Liverpool right now. Because of this, there is a problem in Liverpool’s midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones are injured. Liverpool currently only have three senior midfielders in James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

Since the start of the new season, Liverpool have not managed to win a single game. In the first two matches of the season, they have lost one match. After a poor start to the season, Liverpool are currently looking to sign a new midfielder.
