South Africa defeated semi-finalists of the Qatar World Cup 2022 Morocco on Tuesday night. After surprise defeat Morocco crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Morocco, considered as contender for the Africa Cup of Nations trophy was defeated by South Africa 2-0. Despite not being able to score on first half, South Africa scored two goals by the end of the match.
South Africa took the lead in the 57th minute through Evidence Makgopa. After that, there were no more goals for the stipulated 90 minutes.
Morocco were reduced to 10 men in the fourth minute of injury time. Sofian Amrabat was shown red card by the referee for a foul on Teboho Mokoena.
Morocco was reduced to 10 players. South Africa’s sealed victory when Mokoina scored a brilliant goal. His free-kick against Morocco came from 25 yards.
After scoring a brilliant goal against Morocco, Mokoena gave a tribute to Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. He celebrated on Ronaldo’s style . He was joined by other South African players in the celebration.
