KATHMANDU: The Nepali youth cricket team is playing its final match of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup on Friday. Nepal is going to play the second match of the Super Six of the World Cup and the last match of the World Cup on Friday.
Nepal will take on India on Friday. Nepal has been knocked out of the tournament while India has already made it to the semi-finals of the tournament. Nepal will face each other to perform well against India, who are unbeaten in the ongoing tournament.
The last time the Nepali U-19 cricket team and the Indian U-19 cricket team met was during the Asia Cup held in Dubai in December.
At that time, Nepal was badly defeated by India. Nepal had lost to India by 10 wickets. Nepal were all out for 52 runs and India achieved the target without losing a wicket.
Nepal will be looking forward to forgetting the humiliating defeat on Friday. Although India are in high form, Nepal will definitely be planning to take revenge for the Asia Cup by defeating.
This is nepal’s third match against India in the World Cup. Earlier, Nepal had lost both the matches. In 2000, Nepal and India met in the Under-19 World Cup in Colombo. Sandeep Shrestha scored the highest 29 runs for Nepal after batting first and scored 101 runs. Yuvraj Singh took 4 wickets for India.
Chasing the target of 102 runs, India won by eight wickets at the loss of two wickets. Nepal’s Binod Das dismissed India’s opener Manish Sharma for a golden duck, while another opener Ravnit Ricky was dismissed by Paras Lunia for 35 runs.
But captain Mohammad Kaif scored an unbeaten 57 runs as India easily won over Nepal. The last time Nepal and India competed was in the 2016 World Cup.
In the match played in Bangladesh, Nepal could score 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Sandeep Sunar (37), Arif Sheikh (26), Rajbir Singh (35) and Prem Tamang (29 not out) were the top scorers for Nepal.
For India, Aves Khan took three wickets while Mayank Dagar and Washington Sundar took two wickets each. Chasing the target of 170 runs, India won by 7 wickets in 18.1 overs at the loss of three wickets.
Openers Rishabh Pant (78) and captain Ishan Kishan (52) were the top scorers. Pant was bowled by Prem Tamang while Sandeep Lamichhane caught Ishan by Sunil Dhamala.
